How to use OBS Virtual Camera with Genymotion

Configure OBS Studio Video output format

Genymotion camera API is currently limited to a resolution of 720p ; you need to configure OBS Studio to output a video signal at a resolution of 720p in order to work correctly with Genymotion:

  1. Open OBS Studio, go to Files > Settings, and navigate to the Video section.
  2. Click on the drop-down list "Output (Scaled) Resolution" and select "1280x720":

  3. Click Apply and OK.
  4. Set up and start OBS Virtual Camera.

Genymotion Desktop

Experimental support for OBS Virtual Camera has been introduced with Genymotion Desktop 3.10.0. Make sure to upgrade your copy of Genymotion Desktop if necessary.

In Genymotion Desktop, start your virtual device and follow these steps:

  1. Open the Media Injection widget. You should see "OBS Virtual Camera" in the Sources / Cameras list.
  2. In Inputs mapping / Video, select "OBS Virtual Camera" in the drop-down list as Back or Front camera source:

OBS Studio Virtual Camera is now forwarded to the device back or front camera.

Genymotion SaaS

Configure your browser to use OBS Virtual Camera as Camera

The following tutorial applies to Google Chrome. Please refer to your browser documentation if you are using other Web browsers.

  1. Start OBS Virtual Camera
  2. Access your virtual device display and open the Media Injection widget
  3. Click "GRANT ACCESS" to allow your browser to access OBS Virtual Camera:

  4. Allow access to OBS Virtual Camera. We recommend selecting "Allow while visiting the site":

  5. Open the Media Injection widget again, and select OBS Virtual Camera as camera source:

OBS Virtual Camera will now be displayed as your virtual device camera:

Genymotion PaaS

  1. Start OBS Virtual Camera.
  2. Access your instance display, and click on the Camera and Microphone widget
  3. Select "OBS Virtual Camera" as camera source, and choose "Allow while visiting the site" (recommended) or "Allow this time":

OBS Studio Virtual Camera is now forwarded to the device camera.
