It is possible to install and play Android games with Genymotion Desktop, but there are several caveats to consider.
1. Google Play Store is not preinstalled
You need to install the Open Gapps package to get Google Play Store. We have made our best to make the installation as simple as possible: you will find all the detailed steps in How to install Google Play Store (and other Google Apps) in Genymotion?
2. Most games are only available for Android arm64
If you run Genymotion Desktop on a PC or a Mac Intel, you will likely encounter the following problems:
- if you try to install from Google Play Store, you will get errors such as "This app won't work for your device", "Your device isn't compatible with this version" or "Not available for device".
- if you try to install from an APK file, you will get an error.
This is happening because Genymotion Desktop on PC/Mac Intel uses Android x86/x86_64, while most games are only compiled for Android arm64 (arm64-v8a).
Your best option is to use Genymotion Desktop on an Apple Mac M series computer - see the Compatibility List below for details.
